Seven years ago I was told about an old yard with some Model Ts in it. One day I happened to be working in the area - actually on the same land. After finding the owner and asking for permission, I went for a walk. The farm had a lot of cool stuff. The old lady did not want to sell any of it because her brother and other family members either wanting money or not wanting to sell anything.
I ended up buying one truck from them - a red 1939 Ford 1 ton. It was in very bad shape but had cool door lettering. I thought if I bought it, the others would come. Every 6 months or so, I'd call her and try to buy something more. She'd tell me stories and tell me how much she hated having the burden of the old run-down farm.
The winter of 2008 was hard on the arched shed. The snow was too heavy and the roof came down, trapping a 1927 Model T Coupe, a 1921-17 Model T truck, a 1951 Ford 1 ton truck, and parts for other trucks. At one time, there had even been an old steam tractor in there; someone had got it out before the roof caved in. I didn't know about the roof caving in until the spring of 2010. I wanted the coupe and truck bad, as well as the Little Red Bug as she likes to call it (it was in another old building).
I haven't had the luck of buying it just yet. I have offered money for all the trucks on site, but I haven't heard back from her yet. I'm happy to have picked up these and saved them from the crushers and thieves.
